The Spirit of Nicaragua: A Story of Family, Sustainability, and Coffee – Nestled in the fertile highlands of Jinotega and Molino Norte, Matagalpa, the Nicaraguan Harvest Coffee tells a story of resilience, collaboration, and the unbreakable bond between the land and its people. Founded by family-owned farms under the umbrella of COMULFAC and supported by smallholder farmers from Molino Norte, this coffee represents a collective dream to bring the best of Nicaragua to the world.
In 2013, these families, spanning lands from 4 to 100 acres, each with their own micro-mill, embarked on a journey with J&M Family to enhance their livelihoods through sustainable coffee farming. Together, they’ve embraced practices that ensure the cherries’ meticulous processing – from de-pulping and fermenting to sun-drying on patios and raised beds. The result is a coffee that not only tastes good but does good, improving the quality of life for the community while preserving the integrity of the earth.
This medium roast coffee, flourishing at altitudes between 900 and 1,590 meters on clay mineral soil, offers a cup filled with the complexity of cocoa, floral, and citrus tones, alongside the distinctive flavors of hazelnut, molasses, and graham cracker. Each sip carries the whisper of Nicaraguan winds, the warmth of its sun, and the dedication of its farmers.
The Nicaraguan Harvest Coffee is more than a beverage; it’s a celebration of Nicaragua’s coffee culture, showcasing the potential of Fair Trade and organic farming in building a sustainable future. As you enjoy this coffee, let it serve as a reminder of the power of community and the importance of supporting practices that honor our planet and its inhabitants.
Indulge in the rich, nuanced flavors of our Nicaraguan Harvest Coffee and let it inspire you with its story of hope, perseverance, and the joy of shared success. This coffee is a testament to the spirit of Nicaragua – a country that, much like the phoenix, continues to rise, grow, and thrive, guided by the values of family, sustainability, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
